Courses

6 questions

If you’re 14 to 17, you need Texas Teen Drivers Education (or the Teen Package, which adds 7 driving lessons). If you’re 18 to 24 and getting a first license, you need the 6-hour adult course. At 25 and older no course is required, but the adult course is a good way to prepare.

The adult course is 6 hours, and many students finish in a few days. The teen course is 24 hours and usually takes two to four weeks. You work at your own pace, with breaks every hour.

Texas reduced the required classroom hours for teen driver education from 32 to 24 in December 2024. Our course meets the current standard.

No. You pay once for the course and that’s the whole cost. There’s no monthly fee, no renewal and nothing to cancel.

24 months for the teen course and 12 months for the adult course, from the day you enroll.

Yes. Your progress saves as you complete each lesson, video and quiz, and it’s there on any device when you log in.

Quizzes and exams

3 questions

Yes. The teen course ends with a 50-question final exam. The adult course ends with a 30-question final exam on highway signs and traffic laws. Both need 70% to pass.

Lesson quizzes allow 3 attempts; if you still don’t pass, call us and we’ll help. Module and unit tests can be retaken with new questions after you review. The final exam allows 3 attempts, each with different questions; under Texas rules, failing it three times means taking the course again.

Yes. Texas requires online courses to make sure the enrolled student is the one taking the course. Use your own login, never share it, and complete every part yourself. We may contact you to confirm your identity.

Certificates and paperwork

3 questions

Every Texas driver education certificate (DE-964 for teens, ADE-1317 for adults) has a unique control number from TDLR printed at the top. DPS uses it to check that the certificate is genuine.

Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) and Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) are free DPS video courses about distracted driving. Teens complete ITTD, and adults aged 18 to 24 complete ITAD, before the driving test. They’re separate from our course: take them on the DPS website and bring the certificate to your test.

It depends on your age. There’s a full checklist on the road test page.

Payment and refunds

3 questions

The whole online course: every lesson, video, quiz and test, and your certificate. DPS license fees are paid separately to DPS.

Yes, within 7 days of purchase, as long as you’ve completed less than 6 hours of the course and no certificate has been issued. Full details are in our refund policy.

Call us and we’ll move you to the right one. If it costs more you pay the difference, and if it costs less we refund the difference.
